Unusual British carbine or fusil bayonet designed for an under barrel fixing.  

    

   

 

 

Socket marked with 'No 2',  this particular bayonet is known to belong to a numbered set of 9 bayonets *1.

  

Bayonet marked with maker 'WOOLLEY',  James Woolley *2,  noted as BO supplier in 1793,  known to have worked at Edmund Street,  Birmingham in 1797.  Became 'WOOLLEY & DEAKIN' on the 30th April 1803,  therefore dating this bayonet as pre 1803.
